Hello everyone! I haven’t been on my blog in a while due to… hmmm…let’s think.. Spring track, the musical, photography competitions, choir, softball, wind ensemble, tests, homework, projects and more. So I’m pretty busy but this weekend I am FREE! HALLELUJAH! I’ve decided to go over my spring vacation (I know, super late!) I’ll do a quick overview of each day and I have also included pictures!
Day 0: AHHH! I HAVEN’T EVEN STARTED PACKING AND ITS 10PM OMG! Essentials, essentials… hairbrush, moisturizer, books, homework, phone, toothbrush, clothes, Am I missing something…?
Day 1: My uncle drives us to the airport at 4:30 in the morning. We eat breakfast at the airport and I realized what I forgot… money, just great! I’m starting to get the vacation-butterflies as we run through airport to catch our flight. Made it! Everything is good except we only get 5 minutes of free TV, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT! Highlights of the 4 hour flight included: reading, homework, watching United adds over and over again, and staring out the window in astonishment:
Wow! That is really pretty! I always forget what it’s like to be on a plane, the experience only comes once a year! Flight was good, the chex mix that was provided… not so much. Anyway we finally got there! Yay! The airport has an open ceiling (everything has an open ceiling in Dominican) and it is hot! We drive to our hotel, Paradisus. We are welcomed by lovely people. You know you’re in the right place when you’re welcomed to the phrase: “Welcome to paradise!” Next, we unpack and hit the pool.
Day 2: Exploration day! Day 2 of a vacation is always the day to check things out and look around. We met some new friends and explored our amazing “paradise.”
Day 3: Our first tour, Scuba diving adventure! This was one of the best tours we did. A boat takes us out into the ocean and we scuba dive, here are some highlights:
GAAAAH! Sting ray! GIANT STING RAY! Its ok, he’s nice. This was such a fun tour, they blasted Dominican music and we all danced. They even played the American, “Watch me Whip” *cringe.* They provided amazing fresh fruits and awesome drinks. After scuba diving they took us to a sand bar and we played games like Marco polo, football and catch the flying cup (for more information about the rules of this game read the title again.)
Day 4: Beach day. This was the day we spent time at the beach. Most days we stayed at the pool because it was more exciting, the beach was kind of boring. But I took some awesome pictures!! It was very sad walking down the beach because it was very polluted. Trash was everywhere 😦
Day 5: Pool day! POOL POOL POOL! When I say this pool was huge, IT WAS HUGE, SO BIG WE KAYAKED IN IT! I loved this pool so much. It is so fun for kids because you can do whatever you want. Like when I did zumba every day, after I finished I was super hot and sweaty so I just jumped off the balcony and into the pool! Safe! Right? There were fountains too, I practiced my flips on those, that was fun. We could also jump off the bridge and into the pool, another safe thing to do. Lastly, the restricted zone, oh what fun that was. The restricted zone was for the Gold Members only, well there are no rules in the Dominican so we stuck in there too.
Swim up bar, with non-alcoholic-sugar filled drinks! Yay! The Hurricane drink gave me lots of energy for beach volleyball!
Day 6: Discovery day, me and my brother discovered a secret garden in the back of Paradisus. Where we found some surprises:
Two beautiful flamingos lived in the garden! And baby what ever these birds are! They were sooooooo cute!
Day 7: Tour day! This was the best tour of all. They took us out in open roofed jeeps and we traveled along the Dominican countryside. We experienced what it was like to live as a Dominican, we got to visit a cocoa farm and learn how chocolate is made. We got to roll cigars, go to the beach, go zipping and horseback riding!
Everyone is so nice! The country side was beautiful! My horse was the best, (A little slow though) but put int the effort!
Day 8: Time to leave… :((((((((( SO SAD! I met so many new friends, why do vacations have to end?! One good thing about it was we got free TV because of a late departure. A not good thing about the ride home was the child screaming bloody murder in the front of the plane. I was very worried when the mother says to the screaming child as we’re taking off, “we’re almost there!” It was a sad day, but when we got home we slept in the next day!
Goodbye Paradisus and The end!
I hope you all my photos and if you are interested in going to Dominican Republic look into Paradisus, it was amazing! Miss you guys and can’t wait to here back!
